Busy Bees (Kids Program)
At Busy BJJ we believe that martial arts builds self confidence, self esteem and promotes the importance of physical fitness. For many children, self confidence doesn’t come naturally. Confidence is developed over a period of time and as a child accomplishes new goals, his or her confidence level increases. Children gain self esteem and exhibit confidence with their new-found Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques, but a good instructor will constantly stress, in class, the value of knowing when to use their skills for self defense or in competition only! Kids with a high sense of self-esteem have the confidence to stand up for themselves, be more out spoken and more inclined to help others. The confidence gained allows their individual personalities to shine.
Being a Busy BJJ student also means being a better student in school, learning coordination early in life and learning discipline and perseverance. Kids who participate in Braziian Jiu-Jitsu are proven to have better attention spans. They also learn respect, discipline and responsibility. They learn gratitude, loyalty, the importance of staying in school and keeping drug free. Every child learns to follow directions, pay attention, participate in class activities and to work as a team. These skills help them to become better students and adults. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu also challenges the entire body, developing coordination, balance, agility and poise. These traits are often neglected and not fully developed in team sports. By starting children in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu they learn how to fall properly and how to initiate movement patterns that are inherent to life and any sport they might choose down the road. We also begin basic fitness and calisthenics that will give them a leg-up on their peers who do not engage in fitness activities at an early age.
The skills your child will learn in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu will empower and protect them for the rest of their lives. Early exposure to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is truly a great gift to your child.
Little Bees (5-7 years old)
In this program our Little Bees will learn how to fly on the mat! At this age they are learning responsibility, how to speak clearly and how to feel pride and accomplishment. They also prefer to play with other children and some become competitive. At Busy BJJ they will learn how to deal with their responsibilities on and off the mat, learn how to communicate better, how to compete in a safe and disciplined way, and, of course, self defense.
This program is divided into two categories; Basics and Advanced. Once they earn their solid orange belt and have a full understanding of the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, they can attend classes in our Busy Bees program with the older children. The Little Bees program is based on the Busy Bees program, making the transition easier when it's time for them to move up.
Busy Bees (8-12 years old)
In this program our Bees will learn how to be…. BUSY! At this age, they begin to demonstrate organized and logical thought. They develop the ability to perform multiple classification tasks, order objects in a logical sequence and comprehend the principle of conservation. The child is also capable of concrete problem-solving. That's why at this age, at Busy BJJ, they will be taught more, advanced techniques and logical moves in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Their brains are ready to absorb like sponges and it's our job to make sure we're supply them with the proper knowledge.
This program is divided into two programs; Basics and Advanced. Once they earn a solid orange belt as a Busy Bee, they can start attending classes in our Teen's program. The Busy Bees program is based on the Teens program, making the transition easier when it's time for them to move up.
Teens (13-16 years old)
Enough of being a kid! Adolescence is the last step before becoming an adult and the last thing teenagers like to be called is "kid". At this stage they start to make about their futures. One of the first things they must do is to start making their own decisions, or trying to. For example, teens can begin to decide what to buy with their own money or who will be their friend. To do this they must put a little distance between themselves and their parents. You should, as much as possible, let them learn from the results of their actions. Adolescents also need to be around other adults and, of course, those adults should be positive role models. In our Teen's program they will learn specific, advanced drills and techniques that they can apply more efficiently while they are training. A teen who has began training as Little or Busy Bee will now be extremely proficient in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu yet will understand and demonstrate self-control, patience and a willingness to teach those who are not as advance. We also emphasize respectfulness, confidence and increased self-esteem. Since our Teen's program varies very little from our Adult's Fundamentals program it the transition to the Adult programs will be once when they are ready. There you have it. At Busy BJJ we believe that our Children's program are our most important programs as children are very impressionable. We feel it is our responsibility to help them form the right impressions regarding fitness, self-respect and respect for others. All parents want their children to grow up as model citizens and good-willed people. At Busy BJJ we do our best to help them along this path.
